Looking closely at sports, music, migration, as well as overall cultural representation, this workshop will use recent research findings to show how ethno-racial biases and inequalities manifest themselves within our daily life. In turn, practices will be presented on how to actively take a critical stance towards them. Where do certain stereotypes come from and how do we actively resist them?
The workshop will be given by Sophie Sasse, lecturer and researcher at the Erasmus School of History, Culture, and Communication. Together with prof. dr. Jacco van Sterkenburg, dr. Julian Schaap, dr. Amanda Paz Alencar and prof. dr. Pauwke Berkers, she worked to develop this workshop based on their research findings. In addition, Jacco van Sterkenburg, Professor ‘Race’ , Inclusion and Communication, will be there to present his research findings on sports media and stereotypes. Spots are limited, so sign up now!
