As we navigate a world driven by data and automation, the need to safeguard individual civil liberties in the wake of artificial intelligence becomes more urgent with each passing day. Coded Bias follows M.I.T. Media Lab computer scientist Joy Buolamwini, along with data scientists, mathematicians, and watchdog groups from all over the world, as they fight to expose the discrimination within algorithms now prevalent across all spheres of daily life.
After the movie there will be a panel talk on the role of social biases within AI, and what we can do to combat them. The panel will include:
- dr. Shu Li, Assistant Professor of Law and Artificial Intelligence (ESL). How can we combat biased AI systems from a legal perspective? And who can be hold accountable?
