Every Wednesday from 12.30 to 13.00 the carillon of the Erasmus University is played. You’ve probably heard the music on the bells and looked up where the carillonneur in the glass cabin on the bridge makes the bells sound. Have you become curious and would you like to try that? Then you are welcome at the workshop ‘Erasmus Carillon.’ Look at this video to get an idea of how much fun it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Jyf6XndNzI

The workshop is intended for students and staff of the University. Being able to read notes or play an instrument is not necessary to participate in the workshop.

Wednesday 2 November, 10.30 – 13.00 hrs. The workshop is a one-time event, but for the enthusiastic participant, it is possible to further become proficient in carillon playing by participating in a course.

The workshop will take place at the practice keyboard in the room under the bridge between the H and the A (Erasmus) Building on Campus Woudestein. For the last half hour, carillonneur and participants play the bells above the bridge.

The workshop will be given by Mathieu Polak, carillonneur of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He teaches elementary and advanced carillon students. In addition to the EUR, he teaches at Beiaard Centrum Nederland in Amersfoort and gives an annual summer course carillon in Hannover (Germany).
