Christmas is on its way, which means the winter break. That means missing our premier division boys for nearly a month. So the ultimate hotspot for watching Groningen-Feyenoord this weekend: Panenka. Rotterdam’s best sports bar.
The bar is named after the Panenka penalty kick, in which, instead of kicking the ball directly into the corner of the goal, the player gives a subtle touch underneath the ball, causing it to rise and fall within the goal. Panenka was styled as a gentlemen’s club with leather armchairs, lots of wood and a long bar where you can enjoy a glass of rum or just a beer.
Not only football
Besides football, you can watch plenty of other sports like the handball World Championships on Friday when the Netherlands plays Poland. But admittedly, the Bundesliga, Premier League and Serie A are the most important matches in the bar this weekend.
What’s really good is that Panenka also has a mini skybox where you can watch a match with ten friends. The skybox has its own tap, just like a real skybox.
Not interested in football? On Friday, the bar is hosting the very last edition of Gay Bar. Cheer and dancing are guaranteed. Or get one of the last tickets for NOW&WOW this Saturday in the Maassilo with three rooms of music featuring Jeff Solo and Secret Cinema.
